Default Tips for finding unlisted pages/directories in a website

(Sorry I posted this in the wrong forum before.)

the "site:" function on Google can be ok, but not great.

an example would be: matt-connelly.com, which is really locked down.

the directory matt-connelly.com/private is locked, but some of the galleries under it arent...google brings up matt-connelly.com/private/st - 2 mini gallerys, but i reckon there may be more.

i also found matt-connelly.com/julia

how would you find more within this site?

is it illegal to look for these if they're not searchable through google?
